Painted calipers, need opinions...

For the wheels, I think blue hardware would be dope. Work the lips into a nice shine & let that blue reflect. But the way your wheels are now is still cool to. Either way is a win but you know I'm all for being unique.

Looks good. I'm with v8, re-do the lips and paint the hardware blue. I also think you should paint the caliper white....

I made the blue decision because I knew it would look cleaner than my other ideas when dirty. I wanted to do something more unique but in reality, I don't have the time to keep unique looking perfect. I still plan to do the blue hardware. I still love that idea and nothing in my head says it would look bad.

As for the lips. That last pic is after 3 hours of working them. I wetsanded them starting with 600 grit and ended with 2000 grit. Polished after with white diamond metal polish which didn't shine like I wanted so I used 3m rubbing compound as the final finish. That looked way better than just the polish. But that still doesn't quite shine how I want it to. DJ, thanks for the advice on the products. In person it looks way better than it did. I only did the front Wheels. And they are way better than the rears. I think I just need to wetsand them down more, perhaps to 2500 or 3000. The 3m compound worked the best. But I was running out of daylight. This mission isn't over. Just need more time and love. But first gotta do the rear wheels.

i was gonna say same color as the wheels. but white calipers are gonna get dirty easily i would think. but yea if blue would match the lugs etc then yea thatd be cool.

Np Tim. I had to do my wheels 3 times each before i got the shine on em that i did. I went 800, 1000, 2000 & polished em out. Then repeated that 3 times. Youve seen the HUGE difference it made. 600 is a lil rough tho. Thats more of a paint stripper. Start again, when you have a chance, w/ 800. Your wheels are the same as my old Volks so it should come out the same.

My bad. This was the 1st stuff i used before i found white diamonds. Never used white diamonds on the Volks, only on the XXRs. So this will work better for you.

Now look @ the pic above, the lip. Its clean & has a nice shine right? Well here's how the lips looked after i worked them the 1st time.




And this was the final result after the 3rd time & SHOULD be where you end if you desire.

Thanks DJ! Yeah man. It does help. Once I finished that first round attempt I figured it was going to be A Multistep process. I'm going to wait until I put new rubber on. That way I can take it all apart and do it all at once and right. Doing it with the hardware on makes it really hard. The tips of my fingers were killing me after just the fronts and one round. That first round attempt pic is pretty Damn close to how mine look right now.

I'm thinking about white calipers. What do you guys thinnk?! I have the silver aluminum finish. So it looks like brand new oem.

But I want flashy but not hella flashy. I believe that brakes should stand out when they are good brakes. Like whats the point of painting drums. That's so dumb. I like people paint NSX brakes and RL brakes.


Also depending on the wheel choice and color I will like. Tim's is a good example of a goodcombination. I hate when people have like red painted stock calipers and like takata green wheels. I mean wtf lol.

i like stock calipers that are painted. drums are a dif story tho lol

allan, i think white would look dope. one of my buddies has white painted calipers on his white 8th gen and i love it. and hes had em painted for a while and they look fresh and he hasnt actually cleaned them by hand once. i asked him at our meet yesterday if he cleaned em real good for the meet cause they looked perfect. he said he hasnt touched em.

from what i hear, if you do a rock solid paint job with stellar prep work than ur clean up is much easier n far less often

I usually paint my drums with engine paint black looks clean, when ppl paint their drums hot pink I usually want to kick their car over
