Oil in Spark Plug compartment - what's wrong?

Hi, i drive a 1997 accord LX, 4cyl 2.2L 4door. I noticed that spark plug compartments 2 & 3 (the middle ones) have oil in them and the plug boots are also covered in oil.

Can you please tell me why this might be happening and how I might be able to fix it?

I recently changed the oil, and filled it with the recommended 4 quarts worth.

the gaskets that go around the spark plug base are more than likely bad. get some new ones, pull the vc and replace

make sure to do the vc gasket at the same time. those gaskets and the whole valve cover gasket usually come in sets.

Yeah I bet that's it! Thanks for your help, I wasn't sure.

BTW, should I worry about replacing the plugs if they have been covered with oil?

okay next question... did you check to see if there was oil in the cylinder itself? cause that's a really bad thing.

Yeah man, go to advance or whatever and get a whole new vavle cover gasket and it comes with all of the gaskets for the spark plugs. I just had this problem and did the valve cover and spark plug gaskets and it works great.

If the valve cover grommet seals don't work, then it's the rocker arm seals. If you have not or disassembles a head before, have someone with knowledge do it for you.

I'm going to grab a new gasket set and replace them. Unfortunately, one of the spark plug boots appears to be deformed from the hot oil surrounding it and doesn't fit in firmly. It still stays connected to the plug, but when I push down on it, it pops back out about 1-2 cm. So I think I need new plugs too.

    Anyone had this happen before?

If you have any recommedations for plug wires, feel free to share it here.

thanks to all who provided help!
