*posting this anywhere i think it will get attention*
i cant be the only one that is noticing the demand for a decent header in the F series application. when peoples' first move on a new header is cutting off the collector and welding on a 2.5" piece, this is grounds for making a change around here.
i for one would love more than anything for there to be support in the aftermarket of F series like there is for B/H series, but there just isnt.
im going to need input from you people on what you want from the header, low-mid range, more up top, function over fashion, etc. i want any type of feedback you can give me.
im going into this full-bore w/ a close friend and fabricator who builds turbo manifolds, turbo systems, roll cages, the works. he wanted to build one for my race car about 6 months ago but i just brushed it off and said, "eh maybe later." well, this IS later and the time is NOW. i want a good header damnit, lol.
c'mon people shoot me some input, i already have lots of ideas on my own but i like feedback.
thanks!

well since our motors are only 2.2l and N/A i didn't think we'd benefit that much. big v6's and v8's benefit more cuz they take in more volume to begin w/ and can benefit from the much better flow. we need the backpressure. i mean, maybe you can straighten out the torque curve or something w/ your design but good luck w/ that man. i'd like to see it happen.

What header were you running when I saw you up in Bowling Green at the big import shootout when I took the pics of your car? If your friend can't do a turbo manifold wanna sell it ;)?
BTW... this is KY Accord's car. It ran a 13.9 all motor at BG a few months ago:

Kamikazee already makes a 4-1 header with huuuuge primaries... It robs your low end something fierce.
But if you are really gonna do this and want suggestions... Mine would be, maybe a 4-2-1 header with big primaries, stepped to keep the low end, def. function over form but it has to be coated with something durable and cheap (to keep the cost down)....I like the 2.5" collector idea though...maybe a 2nd O2 bung with some sorta plug that wouldn't interefere too much if closed off for future EGT gauge upgrades.
What about a decent production turbo manifold that won't crack or rust after a year or 2.... you'd probably get more support for that. I'd buy one.

whoa, you're the one w/ the serious weight reduction and you seriously race your car. forgot it was you. good luck w/ designing one man.

this guy can make turbo manifolds in his sleep, so one for an f22 isnt a problem in any type of material you like for that matter.
i run a DC right now w/ unmodified collector. i just have it wrapped w/ that cool tech shit.

Hey kentucky I'm in the process of building a header right now too, that's another part of my project. I don't know how well it would work for a NA motor though, probably would be too big, I'm going to run 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 primaries.

well, im going to try all sorts of different combos w/ pipe diameter, design, primary straight length off the head, stepped, not stepped, etc.
we all know how easy it is to put on a header, my plan is to rent out the dyno for a day, really tune my car in w/ a good baseline on my DC header, then start bolting up the prototypes and drop the hammer!

here are some pics of some Toyota turbo manifolds that he(www.upgradeperformance.net) created and the same quality will carry over for turbo manifolds/headers for the F series.
