View Full Version : Getting another 4th gen
Big Body LX
June 9th, 2003, 02:58 AM
Okay.. it's almost final. I'm going to check it out Tuesday but here are the specs:
1992 Honda Accord EX
F22 (not sure which one)
H22 5spd transmission
burgandy exterior
gray interior
4 door
$2000
I might have pics Tuesday night or I might not depending. I'm waiting on the new motor and transmission to be put in now that's why I don't know which f22 it is. Hopefully it's the f22a6 but I'll settle for a a4 ;).
I'll probably be selling my 91 EX for 2k here in 3-4 months if anyone might be interested.

Yes my current one is stock... because I never really got into the automatic ya know.
I personally like the taillights on the 90-91 better but that's just me.
Like I said... the 91 EX will be for sale for 2000 firm in a few months. Makes a great work-to-back car. It will have stock suspension on it, 92-93 OEM corners jammed in there (lol), and no radio... but other than that no rips or tears at all on the interior and the engine looks brand new (clean).

That deal sounds to good to be true. 2K for a 4th gen with new engine and transmission. I like the color combo.
Good luck with it. There's allot of Accord's here in Miami getting low balled to but they are all salvage title vehicels. I wouldn't mind if they are stolen recovery with no frame damage but the ones that are wrecked are out of the question. These shops here are half ass when it comes to collosion repair.

It's a friend. He bought the car for 500 bucks without engine or tranny. That's how I'm getting it cheap. He's still making money off me but worth it IMO.
Rents backed out on helping me so I hope I get a loan on my own :(. Checking it out today around 1:00pm.

Sorry I haven't kept you guys updated but a lot has gone down.... I kind of feel like I'm getting bullshitted by this guy at times.
Here is what has happened so far:
1) Car is moved to a undisclosed location - The guy said that he found another guy that will do the engine install sooner and a little cheaper. I have no idea where it is and still haven't even seen the car in person yet. I'm working on this though. I told him I have to see it in person and I have to take pictures of it.
2) Engine turns out to be a 96 F22B2 (nonvtec OBDII) engine with unknown miles - "Okay, that's fine by me.... but do you know how to do an OBDII swap?"
3) A week goes by and still no engine nor tranny - This is where I start to get mad. I want this car soon. I'm finding Jettas by the day that I'd like but I'm holding out for this Accord. Get an engine or lose my business
4) "Getting the engine tonight" but didn't get it - He says that the guy that he's getting it from is bullshitting him. I tell him to just get a H22 tranny and I'll worry about the engine myself. I tell him to put the stock engine back on (still runs) and I'll drive it till I can figure something out.
5) H22 much? - I talk to him today and he said he found a USDM H22 engine/tranny for 800 bucks with 80k miles at a junkyard. This will bring the price of the car up a little but okay with me. The car should run about $2300 or so now though so still affordable.
6) "I swear the body is straight man" - Okay.. so I'm cool with the H22 idea... actually, I'm quite excited about it. I tell him I HAVE to have pictures so that I MIGHT be able to get the rents to cosign for me. He says the car is out in the "boonies" and is a long drive.
I'm kind of getting pissed but I don't want to say **** it, buy a Jetta, then him finish the car...... ARGH!

The only reason I keep waiting is because I've known this guy for about 3 years now. I don't want our friendship to cloud my judgement on this deal but keep in mind, no money has transferred hands yet.

buisness is buisness homie, frienship or family has nothing to do w/ that !!

I haven't got the loan yet nor will I even talk to the bank until I've seen the car in person and seen progress on it. Trust me I'm not a dumbass. I want to drive the car before I buy it.
You're upset because I don't want your friend's car or whatever.... but I have been telling friends about it. Where's the proof that that "low mile" a6 really has low miles? I can go to the junkyard with the guy and see the odometer on the donor car.

Alright.. well I drove a friend's 98 Jetta yesterday on lunch and I have to say I fell in love with the car. Also, when dropping off the girl I ran by a Honda dealership and they had a 94 Accord EX 5spd 4door I really liked.
I'm going to call the dealership on Monday about the Accord to see how much they want. If they want less than 5k I might get it. It has 103,000 original miles and the body is straight as **** except for a minor white mark on the bumper from what looks like a parking lot mixup.
I also found two Jettas at a local car lot but I haven't had a chance to call them.
The only other car I drove that the clutch and steering felt as good as the Jettas is a BMW 325i..... apparantly the Germans know what they're doing.

Well guys if all goes well and I get approved for my loan it looks like I'm leaving the 4th gen family now.... On my way home last night I also saw a 95 Altima 5spd at a Toyota dealership I'm gonna ask the price on... If it's less than 4k I'm getting that instead of the 5th gen Accord (around 1500 less). This also depends on how much they'll give me for my car.... I want at least 1500 on a trade-in.
So like I said... if all goes well I'll either be sporting a:
1995 Nissan Altima 5spd (KA24DE same engine as my old Nissan 240SX)
-OR-
1994 Honda Accord EX 4door 5spd
Both have around 105,000 miles and are in excellent condition. The Honda was said to be between 5-6k but the sales person at Honda didn't go in depth on the price. I am supposed to test drive the Accord at 11:00am today... but that all depends on Toyota. It's a bargain game now.
I'll post pics of whatever the final decision I do.

Sorry guys.. I ended up getting the Altima. They were asking 6k but my dad talked them down to 3800. The Honda dealership was bullshitting me so I walked out on them.
